Freedom from a shadow

This moment he could feel life on his fingers, he could smell it, he could hear it, he could taste its sweetness, he could see the light, most importantly, he could feel life waking up in his heart. Just as a ten year old is roused from his sleep and gains consciousness. That moment was his, and every moment since that moment, he thought, belonged to him. Its funny, at such times, people wonder if anything in the world could dampen their spirits or bring them down. They forget that in every moment before this current moment, they couldn't think of light. They wouldn't think of it even if they could. Because sorrow is so indulging, so completely swallowing the very man she lives on. Yet, one sparkle of light washes away universes of darkness. Light banishes darkness, or so it seems to the person it protects. He felt the same.
Every part of his body wanted to sing, to dance, to break free from the clutches of worldly limitations. But he sat still, savouring the moment, savouring the sweet taste of freedom. He wondered why was this moment different from all others. He knew the answer. In every preceding moment, he didn't belong to himself. Unconsciously, he had sold his soul to someone who unknowingly had bought him, his soul, his body, his mind and heart. Yet that someone was as far from him as land is from the skies. He wasn't free. Memories, hopes, fears bound him. Love bound him. Its chains stung him like barbed wires, yet he was numb to the pain, thinking the pain was worth it. He knew not, that it was never worth it. He thought that all the drops of blood that left his tiny wounds and all the tears that his eyes shed were nurturing his love. . But he knew not. That love never binds. It sets you free. Love doesn't only give you hope, it is the stuff dreams are made of. Love takes away your fears, doesn't leave them to you or you to them. Love doesn't leave memories. Love, when it happens, is always there, always the present, always happening, always around you. Your heart, mind and soul become one with love and there is no space for memories. Memories are but a fickle phenomenon, they can never take the place of what true love is at all times. They are hallucinations. And today, he was free. This moment, all memories, all fears, all hopes and things he used to called love, everything that hurt him, that bound him, all clutches all ropes all chains, everything was broken, banished. He knew, he'd got his soul back. He knew he was himself again. He was his own again. And once again, he could feel life on his fingers, he could smell it...

I posted this some time back untitled and i came across it again in my computer today...for some reason i wanted to post it again...maybe because no one commented the first time....sorry but i happen to be a little touchy when it comes to my posts :p :p :p

'love takes away your fears'
i always thought that it brings along fears and insecurities

and arnt memories impressions of what love once might have been or was. stamping memories as mere hallucination wud be an understatement

otherwise, this piece is well written

Thanks, yar actually, right here i'm talking about true love. That is so rare these days. When i wrote this, i had the exact idea in mind as to what real love is and should be like. Fears and insecurities have no place in true love yar. What this guy experienced, full of fears and insecurities, he learns it was not true love at all.

To the other part of your comment, well mubi, Waisay i dont know if i can completely justify it but let me give it a try... what that meant was that true love is always around, which means k when something's there, why'd you need a memory?

Btw, you've seen the movie The Holiday na? Usmay Kate Winslet refers to the situation this guy in the post is going through as Gumption...i think that was the word? Even if it wasn't, thats a nice word.

hmmm...naive as i am...maybe ur right..cant say much..will come on this later
as for the movie..well i didnt get to watch the whole thing courtesy amna :@ and ya i guess that was the word..and the only thing i remember from the movie is the tent, and mr napkin ( extremely off topic)

lol well its okay jude law was good in the movie. I love the british accent these days, not prolly the oxford one its too complicated, but generally british is good. Anyways waiting for your comment about the issue.

@mahru
Well you do :p so wat a lot of people know this guy :p i'd like comments on the post too

ahem,...knowing that guy goes without saying..i was hesitant to state that before..but my doubts have been confirmed.

as for the post...lol..i have begun to feel i am a person void of any such feeling. i mean i cant bring myself to say anything on this :/ :s :|

when you say that sorrow is indulging...its true..the dark power of sorrow consumes us at times so crucial as these written about. yet at the same time, only a speck of light can conquer the huge walls of sorrow surrounding us.
true love or not, i still believe that insecurities are a tag that are bound to linger with it. love might set ppl free, and yes its true, true love that we are cherishing this very moment leaves no room for memories to haunt us later..but then again how wud you define 'true love' and how long can even true love last?

Lol @ " i was hesitant"
anyways, yar true love...ummm...i think its that feeling which has the characteristics we talked about, like it sets you free, eradicates insecurities, is always there etc. I dunno if there's an exact definition, but that kind of love basically is unconditional. Like in the worldly things , my love for football :p

and you're devoid of any feeling? Oh well cant be, its the greatest feeling in the world. And btw who says true love can exist only between humans? Humans are too tainted by their desires these days to experience true love very often. But thats the order of the day, that happens and the world has learnt to live without love.

ya love for things is the only true kind left :/
lol, ya football n you, true all the way

hmm... what can i say... its weird i have never looked at your blog before... like real weird man... i bloghop a lot... lol... well.. .now i am a follower so will be keepin an eye on it !!!

as far as the post is concerned... aaah... how well do i know what true love is... it gives you a sense of false security perhaps... a blind trust... a feeling that whatever happens if the love is true (which it is), one shall succeed...

does love take away fears? I think it supresses them. Just like a beam of light outshines the darkness around it... a slight music shadows all the silence that was there before.. love kills it all... the moment u are together nothin else is there... no concept of time remains...

a few examples come to mind but i would not want to iterate them here... lol !!!

cheerios... very well written!

Hello senior, thanks for dropping by :D...
Yar i dont know love is too complex a feeling to be put into general words. For everyone it has a different meaning, but yeah you're right like a beam of light but isn't that like taking away your fears as well? Anyways, i dont know how many people realise their love is true or not.
Those who do experience love, whether they failed in it or succeeded, the memories of it are still some of their biggest assets.
And failing in love is not half as bad as not being in love. Infact its not even bad, trust me i speak from experience :)
thanx for the comment waisay.

m.h.a said...

As in i meant failing in love is not half as bad as NEVER being in love.

the problem occurs when you feel it again... and wonder if the last one was true indeed... lol

i think i hav felt true love... i still feel it... it is a weird feelin... but u r ryte... everybody has their own concept... !

but i do not beleev in 'havin loved and lost is better than not loved at all'... coz it effin hurts!!! lol

m.h.a said...

Lol yeah it hurts but you know sometimes its worth it..and wats life without a little pain?

bottom line: youre a dreamer.

oh and stop glorifying love so much, its not all that great, and i so agree with love bringing "fears and insecurities", yes TRUE LOVE.

Unknown said...

umm... i wouldn say its worth the pain... though the experience and the pain has always been very educational for me...

till it turned me into a cold robot!!! devoid of any feelins!
